Before INTENTION // bay leaves ever became a product, bay leaves were something I had started using in my own manifestation practice.
I first saw someone writing on and burning bay leaves on YouTube, and I became curious enough to try it for myself. In the beginning, I was using the smaller bay leaves from the spice aisle and writing down my wishes on them. Most of the time, that meant fitting one or two words onto a leaf before burning it.
At that point, I was not thinking very much about the size, shape, or quality of the leaves. They were simply part of a manifestation practice I was experimenting with, and I eventually began using them more regularly as I focused on the things I wanted to bring into my life.
Then I discovered larger bay leaves.
I remember getting them and immediately thinking, Wow, I really like these.
They were beautiful, they felt so good in my hand, and there was actually room to write more than one word.
As I continued using them, I realized how much I enjoyed the entire experience of putting my intentions onto the leaf, sitting with what I had written, and then carefully burning it.
That experience eventually became part of the inspiration behind INTENTION // bay leaves.
More Room to Write
One of the biggest differences between these bay leaves and the smaller leaves many people are used to seeing in the spice aisle is the amount of space for writing.
When you are working with a smaller bay leaf, you may only have room for a word like money, love, peace, or abundance. Sometimes one word is exactly what you want to write, but having a larger leaf gives you the option to be more specific.
Instead of simply writing money, you might write, I want to earn $10,000 this month.
You might write a full sentence, repeat the same wish several times, add a few words that represent what you want, or maybe you decide to use one word and leave the rest of the space open.
The point is that the space is there when you need it.
That is one of the main reasons these leaves work so well for writing. The larger surface gives you more freedom to express your intentions.
Why These Bay Leaves Look Different
INTENTION // bay leaves are Tejpatta Indian bay leaves, which are naturally larger than the smaller Bay Laurel leaves commonly found in grocery stores.
Their size makes them especially useful for writing, but size is only part of what I look for.
I hand-sort the leaves myself and pay attention to the overall condition of each one. I look for leaves that are whole, beautiful, and large enough to give you usable writing space. Most of the leaves I select are approximately four and a half to seven inches long, although every leaf is naturally a little different.
Some are longer and narrower. Others are slightly wider. Their shapes vary, and that is part of what I love about them.
What matters to me is that when you open your box and pick up a leaf, it feels like something that was chosen with care.
I want you to look at it and think, This is beautiful.
I want the leaf to feel special enough that you almost hesitate for a second before burning it.
Hand-Sorted for the Experience
Because bay leaves are natural, they are never going to look exactly alike. That individuality is part of their beauty, but I still have standards for what I want to send.
I look for leaves without major cracks, holes, bends, or damage, and I pay attention to whether there is enough usable surface for writing.
That hand-sorting process matters because these leaves are something you are going to hold, write on, look at, and eventually burn as part of your manifestation practice.
The way the leaf looks and feels becomes part of that experience.
A Different Way to Write Your Intentions
I have always liked finding creative ways to stay connected to the things I want to manifest.
Writing on a bay leaf gives you a different surface for that expression. It gives you a way to take something that is in your head and put it onto something you can physically hold.
You can write a single word, a specific intention, a sentence, or whatever feels meaningful to you in that moment.
For me, that is what makes the larger leaf so useful. It gives you room to decide and the option to choose.
INTENTION // bay leaves were created to give you a beautiful, whole leaf with enough space to make the writing part of the ritual feel like its own experience.
If you have only ever used the smaller bay leaves from the spice aisle, you will probably notice the difference as soon as you open the box.
